Spring had sprung, and its coming brought a bounce to Saena's step. Despite the fact that they were harbouring an illegitimately pregnant female (her irresponsible, selfish aunt, no less), Blacktail Deer Plateau was doing better than ever, and the wolves were strong and mostly united. Unfortunately, she'd seen neither hide nor hair of Pura or Valtyr in some time, which accounted for the less united members, but she was integrating with the adults, which took her mind off it. Sometimes, she even forgot about her age mates, and often wound up feeling guilty for moving on without them so easily.
She was on one such guilty trip to find the red-eared Sveijarn when a familiar, yet unexpected call pierced the air. Admittedly, Saena had forgotten all about Swordfish and the news of Junior. Ever since learning that her sister was miles away, the Blacktail had put a great deal of effort into filling the void in her heart by striving to be more like Junior. She felt she was succeeding despite the setbacks she encountered on a weekly basis. So focused was she on conducting herself more confidently, like her spunky sister always had, that she'd almost convinced herself she'd never see Junior again.
Realizing she was standing completely still, the pale female whirled on her paws and galloped for the borders, heart in her throat. She didn't dare to believe that Junior was really back, and even went so far as to talk herself out of it and slowed down... but when she glimpsed the larger black female through the trees and caught sight of those dual-toned eyes, there was no mistake, and soon she was running again, right down the towpath.
"Junior!" Saena practically squealed, flinging herself out into the flatlands and toward her older sister. She sought to cuddle right up to her, to take in her scent and restore the musk of the plateau to her coat. "I knew you'd come back!" she said. Even though she had forgotten about it for a while, she had believed, back when Swordfish came to her, that Junior wouldn't stay away forever.
