Only when he had vanished completely did she turn to Peregrine. What more could they do to make it clear that visitors weren't welcome? She swore the more they secured and protected their borders, the more idiots came around looking for trouble.

Despite—or perhaps because of—the commotion, Fox found her grey eyes settling easily on Peregrine's figure. He was a handsome devil, wasn't he? "You were a real badass, dear," she cooed, licking his ear. Not only was he a badass, but their children were mini badasses.
