Tagging people Magpie met/interacted with lots as an NPC (basically everyone) so any and all are welcome to jump in now that she has a personality and free will. :B

LONG BECAUSE A MILLION YEARS HAVE GONE BY.

She didn't particularly love hunting— at least, not more than any other wolf. But she had promised Peregrine a long time ago that she'd pursue Gamekeeper, and he had just about lost his shit when she mentioned the possibility of pursuing something else. She had little choice but to earn her stripes as a Warrior or Warden, after the sudden decree that it was a requirement of the Caldera wolves. Magpie had no choice but to drop the last remaining trade that had been her choice and passion; naturalist. Healer was close, at least— that was what she told herself like a mantra— but a lot had changed since she had wanted to be an outrider, a naturalist, a storyteller.

Those would be things she kept for herself. She had never settled anywhere for so long before; it was odd how little freedoms were slowly stripped away, somehow without her notice. It was insidious, pack life. It had been a long time since she had trekked far beyond the borders. Most of her attention was tuned within, where she often took the youth under her wing, or tended to the wolves that were far more interested in the fighting trades than she was.

Sometimes she wondered if she really fit in. If giving up everything she believed in was worth her life here, among relatives. Stable. Magpie still wasn't particularly close to anyone, but she was far more integrated now than she had been months ago. Tending to @Sebastian's wounds, spending time with @Wildfire and the rest of Peregrine and @Fox's brood, having the honor of watching over @Finley and @Elwood's son, @Elwood Jr.— that had surprised her, but had almost made her cry. Somehow, despite her rocky start, Magpie had made it here (at least, until she screwed it up again).

Perhaps that was why she sat perched on the small, rocky island near the caldera's lakeshore, lime green eyes scanning the water for a hearty fish to catch. She had proven herself a master rabbit slayer, it seemed— and now she'd take on earning her next badge as fish assassin.
