He smiled as she declared with such sureness she would never shelter underground again.  Doubtless that would hold until the sky broke loose again, as he couldn't imagine her guardians taking no as an answer.  He'd personally drag Eilidh or her brothers underground before letting them risk themselves to destruction like this.

"I was back home.  We got some storms, and a few fallen branches, but nothing like this."  After the fire, this was a major blessing.  They were strong, but there had been enough destruction.  He'd sheltered near the mountain to watch the storm blow by.  He'd always been fond of rain and thunder, but he'd grown a new distaste for lightning and the danger it brought.  He could feel her eyes as he kept walking, and glanced back, unaware of the effect he was once again having on Peregrine's daughter.  If he'd known, likely he would have found the entire situation hilarious, thinking how thrilled Peregrine would be at this development.  Instead, he merely turned his own eyes to the road as well.
