Zombie liked to stay close to the territory claimed by Ookaan, for it represented a safety and security the girl had been missing for the majority of her life. It felt good, most of the time—but at others, like now, the idea of a home terrified her. To have something stable, to not have to worry about her next meal... the concept overwhelmed the quiet female at times. Zombie didn't know how to handle it; didn't know how to exist in a place that was comfortable. Her strength was building, though her form was still too-thin and weak—but she had more energy now than she was used to.
With panic filling her mind with images, sounds, tastes and thoughts she could barely make sense of... with electricity in the slowly-growing muscles beneath her coat building, Zombie began to ran. She ran until her heart thumped heavily in her chest, causing a flutter in her lungs and throat that made her feel sick. While others would be able to run a much farther distance without tiring, the yearling found herself at the edge of a creek.
She set the femur—the thing that truly made her feel secure—down at the bank and lay over the top of it, leaning her head forward to taste the clear running water.
