Haunted Wood she moved through life in perfect arcs

After so many days on the attack, Morran was more exhausted than she realized. The interest of her companions had waned quickly after the first night of waiting, and the male still at her side barely engaged with the Jade Fern Grove wolves when they came.

It all ended with a sad fizzle. Morran fought without heart, swiping her sharp claws at Scimitar, Kaskara, and Kieran only a handful of times before hightailing it south. The white female in the woods disappeared, no doubt to fetch her children before the filthy lot of them made their way back to Jade Fern Grove. 

Morran's ugly face twisted into a snarl as she loped into the grasslands on slow, heavy feet. At least she hurt them. At least she got the boy's eye.
