Floki figuratively settled into the background as they meandered, happy to be just a shadow accompanying Charon and Wildfire. The young Alpha was proud to show off his territory; and although Floki could have done an equally adequate job, he didn't want to step on his brother's toes. Wildfire didn't have a lot to say, but it was almost as though Floki could physically see her spirits lifting. There was a twinkle in her eye and a spring in her step that hadn't been there initially.

Charon led them out of the forest and to the base of the mountain, gesturing up at a ledge that sparked a memory in Floki's mind. He thought of the first time he had met Wildfire and smiled. He was a little distracted as Charon asked about Wildfire's ankle, but managed to emerge from his little dreamworld and looked at her leg. "You'll have to practice your climbing so you don't get hurt again," he said with a wave of his tail; before long, they would all be experts at scaling the mountain, as sure-footed as goats.
