Her gaze continuing to rest upon the boy’s face, expression unwavering despite his aggressive gesture. As time trickled by without a single word being shared, a thought struck her, mind attempting to justify the stranger’s vow of silence.

“Are you able to speak?” The likelihood of her crossing paths with a mute had always seemed low, but not impossible.
