With deal done, the other leader turned to take her leave. Reek bid Thuringwethil farewell with a parting nod and said, "You do the same." He remained rooted to the spot as she walked away, and with curious eye he watched as she slipped away into the distance, becoming nothing more than a black speck situated on a neat blanket of white.
When she finally passed the threshold of vision, Reek turned away from the frozen river and began abling back home, emptyhanded.
