Pluto dared to glance behind him, watching with mild curiosity as the madwoman seemed to slow, though his own pace did not slow as his paws carried him out onto the beach, kicking up pawfuls of sand and splashing through the water in his swiftness. He then turned around, catching his breath as he watched the female slowly follow his scent trail. Well, if he just stayed out in the open where he could see her and not be ambushed, he should be fine, right? Every time Pluto felt that the distance between them was getting a wee too close, he would sprint away again, stopping further away to wait for her approach. He wasn't going to keep endlessly running, as that would just burn out his energy, and the wolf would just follow his trail and attack when he was most vulnerable. She may have been crazy, but she wasn't dumb.
"I don't have all day, y'know!" Pluto taunted, waving his tail back and forth behind him, lightly bouncing from paw to paw as if he were impatient. Perhaps if he taunted her enough, she would waste all of her energy and lose interest? She did seem to want to come to the beach, so maybe she wouldn't want to follow the coyote back into the forest? That or he could always walk into some pack's territory and hope for some section of the hivemind to come out and see him and the crazy hag trailing him. Pluto had done it before coming to these lands, only it had been with a mother fox who's cub had...mysteriously vanished while ha was passing through the area. "I've seen snails faster than you!" Pluto yapped, running further along the beach before stopping and turning back again, watching the female carefully.
