He was late, he knew. @Lasher had asked him to return to the brambly woods in one week, not ten days later. Peregrine a little guilty, though it was tempered a great deal by the knowledge that he was just doing his fatherly duties. Fox and the pups came first before anything and no one knew that better than Lasher. Plus, he figured the ocher male would understand how hectic parenting could get, especially in the earliest days.

He roved into the forest, his jade gaze sweeping side to side for any sign of his former flame. For some reason, he didn't feel like calling for him. So he prowled, silent and leonine, beneath the blooming boughs overhead, utilizing his tracking skills to search for any sign of Lasher's passage.
