Since you didn't say otherwise, I'm going to assume that they're right outside of the lair/not in the territory itself. ^^
There were signs of life at last. Nothing great enough to begin luring in the herds, but it was a start, and the young leader had felt a surge of joy go through her body the moment she'd spotted the first patch of grass. It was small, still, but she felt happy nevertheless. It was often that she patrolled the inner reaches of the territory, looking at the barren trees and overall lifeless appearance. Yet, that day had held the moment in which she'd spotted the little patch of thin greenery, and she'd been inspired to travel out beyond her claim. If she could find more grass out in unclaimed lands, then surely that would mean that the life was returning to the wilds. That is wasn't a mere fluke, a result of her doings, but an event brought on by the gentle hand of nature herself. Thus, she'd gone forward, trekking through the lair before crossing the scent markers that declared the lair as being home to the tribe. She'd gone beyond it all, but not so far that she could no longer see her home. The girl remained within hearing distance, attentive and listening in at all times on the off chance that she'd be needed. As she progressed, however, the scent of another wolf eventually reached her nose.
Asterr had paused, growing still as her nose was pointed up towards the incoming wave of air. The wolf was a female, possibly alone—though that was something she could not be sure of, as there existed plenty of packs whose scents she neither knew nor could recognize—and moving towards her. Each gust brought with it a stronger version of the same scent, informing her that the space between them was lessening, but for how long it might take to be closed entirely was something that she could not figure out. It depended on the stranger, her health and pace, which were things the chieftess knew nothing of. Curious, yet, she did not contribute towards the act of decreasing the distance left between them, having decided to remain right where she had stopped for the time being. Pale eyes scanned the area ahead of her, attentive of what may be coming, for she wished not to miss sight of the stranger. If they turned out to be a threat to either herself or her tribe, she would ensure she knew beforehand.
