Most kids did not like when their mothers tried to get their untidy youths decent again, but not Peter. He was practically gloating and that smug smile did not disappear, when some of the licks that were aimed for the top of his head landed on his face now and then. He had got attention and that mattered the most. 

"Urrr....rrrr...rr...rrr..." he purred (in a dog-like manner for the lack of better description) and was looking at his mother from half-closed eyes with lot of love and affection. She was amazing.
