Hey, it's not a big deal, but please try to avoid power-playing my character, e.g., "the Alpha now glares at him like he would kill him." Only I can write for my character, as only you can write for yours. :)

Peregrine expected innovation from his potential recruits, as well as the ability to think on one's feet. The stranger seemed at a loss, which did not bode well for his chances, though he redeemed himself somewhat by suggesting a spar. The Alpha male's eyes flashed, shrewdly scrutinizing his would-be nemesis. If they actually fought, he would certainly win, yet if they just scrimmaged... Peregrine could get a feel for the male's skills, even if he wasn't at the top of his game.

"Come at me," was the swarthy leader's only reply as he braced himself for the stranger's first attack.
