deirdre had a voice of forests and glens; the description starbuck had spoken was apt, though deirdre heard herself differently. your voice is like honey, and rolling fog that is hard to see beyond, it was meant as a compliment, and the affectionate way she spoke it indicated such a thing. it was slow and sure, pleasant and mysterious all at once. not smoky or rough, but smooth... not like the ocean, but like the water in a stream that crawled assuredly, but slowly, over the rocks and pebbles in its domain.

of nowhere! deirdre was silent for a moment. how long have you been alone for? she wondered aloud, tilting her head. deirdre was quite amazed by wolfs without pack; she herself did not think she could survive it! for she loved the unity pack offered, and the friends she had made. she would hate to be lonely... though she knew all wolves were different, and could tolerate things differently.

deirdre was rapt as the other explained her work, and what was to be done. when instructed, deirdre licked her chops and wondered what best to ask the other. many questions tossed through her mind, and she did not know which best to choose! deirdre laughed, nervous herself--i am not sure what i wish to know most about my future! she need not ask if she would ever see her mother or father again--in this life, in the In Between, or the next life deirdre was sure that she would--and so she looked to her pale paws, pondering for a moment.
