She moved through the tendrils of both the glowworms and the mushrooms, watching them swing as she passed. Seff was equally interested in the mushrooms, but her gleeful smile widened as he asked her for a story of Mephala. She hummed in contemplation for a moment; what story to tell? There were many about the goddess, though there were few that were suited to someone of his age.

She spun an edited tale that she had heard when she was young, of the Night Mother — another name for Mephala, she had explained — and who she was: the Webspinner, the Spider Goddess. How she first spoke to those of the mortal plane and enlightened them on the darkness and how to use it to their advantage. She made it brief, but the important parts that explained just who Mephala was (as well as a mortal could understand her) were still in it.

With her story done, the priestess nudged another tendril, watching it swing, waiting for any questions the boy had.
