She did not settle into the forests of Donnelaith immediately. It was difficult to get used to the humid air and towering trees. Occasionally, Muses felt claustrophobic, and found herself wandering between the maze of trees to try and soothe her frayed nerves. She missed the chaos of family life on top of the mountain, the snow that never melted, and the closeness of her family. This was not a bad place, she thought to herself, but it was nothing like the only home she had ever known.

Finally feeling wary and defeated, she pushed her body against the base of a sequoia tree. The feeling of solid wood refusing to give in to her weight was reassuring. Comforted, she allowed her body to sink, slowly sliding down the base of the tree until she was lying down on the moss covered floor beneath her paws. No sooner had she managed to curl herself into a comfortable position did a maiden in white appear in her peripherals. Muses turned her head, initially surprised to see Deirdre. This was her realm however, and was to be expected. Thumping her tail on the ground, her mood brightening considerably, she offered an inviting chuff, hoping that her friend would come and sit with her a while between the gnarled roots.
