A kick to his side—which was believed to have come from his sister, though he had no evidence—had awoken the boy during the wee hours of the morning. As soon as his eyes had opened he’d glared towards the assumed culprit, wondering what she might be dreaming about and why it had led to him being awoken. On any other day, the Prince would be glad to have left his dreams behind so early, but today was different. There had been a celebration going on within his head, with congratulations being thrown out everywhere. Bramble hadn’t the slightest of clues as to what was being celebrated, but he had gone along with it anyways and enjoyed every second of it. It had been terribly disappointing when his mind was ripped away from the otherworldly realm and dragged into the earthly one, and he blamed Tulip for it. For another moment longer he had glared at her, despite the fact that there was an easy solution to the problem he’d encountered: lay back down and drift off to sleep.
Rolling onto his side, an attempt was made at finding sleep. Against the earth had he laid, looking off into the darkness—and then there was a change. From the shadows there had emerged a form, but it was not one of his fairies. Never before had he seen it, the darkness being unlike any other he’d been exposed to in the past. The child trembled from fear, anticipation, attraction. There was something about the entity that drew him towards it, pulling him back up onto his feet so that he could began creeping towards it. What was it? Why was it there? He did not yet have the voice to ask, so he simply watched and continued moving towards it. As he tried to reach out towards it, the beast suddenly lunged forward, engulfing the child and then carrying him backwards. A gasped escaped him, and then…
…the child awoke.
Wide eyes jumped from one object to the next as he frantically looked around the den, seeking out the darkness—but there was nothing there. Whatever it had been, it was gone now. Perhaps he should have been happy, but all that could be felt was disappointment. The creature had been the opposite of his fairies, so dark and cold, but he’d been drawn towards it anyways. Running his tongue across his lips, he worked to push the darkness from his mind, to forget about it until it appeared again, if it ever would, but he hadn’t been able to. The dream lingered, making him antsy. His mother and sister were ignored as he wandered away from them, settling down elsewhere until there arrived another intruder. Her greeting had made the young wolf look up towards her, but not a word was spoken; he could not yet speak, and wouldn’t have returned the greeting even if he could. She was a stranger, another false light, a—what was that?
From the corner of his eye, he’d noticed a dark force, its destination appearing to be the woman’s stomach. Feeling drawn towards the unknown, Bramble stood once again and started walking in the direction of the stranger, baby blues never straying away from her abdomen. Whatever the shadow was, he wanted it, and would not stop until he had it. If Heartha were to call him back to her, she’d be ignored, for on another female was the child’s attention focused.

A light
An exhale
And a dance in the world,
Where fairies soar
An exhale
And a dance in the world,
Where fairies soar
