It was time. She was alone against the cold ground of her den, rather than cuddled against her mate as she had been the first time around, but Honey knew that the temporary discomfort would be worth it once she met the eyes of her young. Honey whined and whimpered as the contractions grew closer, stronger, much more powerful than any she'd felt with her first litter. Still, she perservered, knowing that it would be over soon enough.

The initial pains began in the early hours of the morning, but they hadn't grown to become nearly unbearable until the sun was at its high, beaming down onto the young mother. She called out and kicked against the walls of her den with each sharp stab to her abdomen, but all in all, Honey knew that it was worth it seeing as their tiny mouths would be suckling at her teats before the day was over.

Just as Honey was beginning to slip into a pain-induced sleep, the first child began to appear from between her legs. Large and plump with a coat of black, the young mother knew that he would serve as the sacrifice to the god Molech that she owed Eshamun for her betrayal. Still, she cleansed him of the birthing sac and placed him carefully by her side where he would rest until it was time for him to go.

Then, without a break in between, came a small girl of milky tones and distinct white marking. Caroline, Honey thought. It was remarkable how much the girl mimicked her late aunt, thus Honey decided that she would call her @Carnation. A smile split across her face and she grinned weakly as she licked the sac from the girl and placed her beside her brother.
