She forced her paws to stop despite her instincts telling her to run, digging her heels into the dirt and turning nervously to face the boy.

He was larger than Cypress — larger than most wolves she had encountered, in fact. Ears flattened against her skull, Lyra stared at the space beside him, uncertain. She scared him? She supposed she had snuck up on him. She was too used to her sisters innately knowing exactly where she was, even if she tried her hardest to be stealthy.
