The moment she felt the tie between them break, she turned to face him. She tried as best she could to latch onto him, to sink her fangs and claws into his haunches to tear him down and — kill him? She wanted to, so so badly. Her body demanded that it be so. But he was too quick, and she too exhausted, even with adrenaline pumping through her. He escaped her with nothing but the wounds on his face and chest and front legs. She screamed after him, the noise not quite a howl, not quite a screech.
