Alya had simply ducked her head in shame. She'd known as soon as the word left her mouth that it was the wrong thing to say, and the wrong way to say it. She would apologize to her father, and it would never happen again.

A tiny, innocent part of her - the part that'd thought her father could do no wrong - had died on this day. But she was not a child anymore, and even this realization was taken with a grain of salt.
