When Lasher appeared, like a vision climbing straight out of Peregrine's receding dream, the Alpha male started and hiccoughed awkwardly. Only as the other male settled nearby did he finally rumble, "Hello, Taltos." Despite his use of the nickname, he sounded queerly formal and shook his head, laughing lightly at himself.

"What's happening?" he asked much more casually in the next moment, thumping his own tail in a sign of welcoming. He was happy for company, even if Peregrine had a hard time figuring out his own feelings about Taltos. "Sucked any good dicks lately?" he found himself quipping, perhaps a bit too casually, his expression momentarily freezing after the words left his mouth.
