Stark didn't pay attention to how it sounded - that he was fitting himself right into the family and making a home for himself there. 

" I'd like to know more about your life before Silvertip." They had talked some about recent history - Stark had known her when she lived on the mountain. He wanted to know more - to learn about her. He was curious, and probably lying to himself about why - at least for the time being. Eventually he would accept his feelings, but admitting them to her might be different.
