Honestly, he forgot about the gift most of the time. It was ever-present, but he had become accustomed to the weight of it. Heck, he had almost become accustomed to the way others stared at his neck rather than... well, anything else. Perhaps it could be worse. Yes, it could definitely be worse. Instead, the gift had not done anything since he had gotten it. At first, he had been certain that it was some kind of test, but now it seemed like nothing at all. Aside from occasionally being itchy, he ceased to recognize its existence... until somebody else did it for him as Lyra was doing right now.

"Hey," he replied, mimicking the word she had used. His spoken word still wasn't on par with the rest of the pack, but Dune felt he was making progress in that department. Talking to others and even listening to them talk to each other had helped tremendously. Vocabulary was still a rather large gap in his knowledge, but he figured that would only continue to grow and expand as time went on.

Dune realized he didn't actually have a plan on what to do once he got to Lyra. Small talk wasn't exactly one of his strong points, but hunting definitely was, so maybe they could do that. He remembered that he'd come across the thick smell of rabbits earlier that day. "Found rabbits. Hunt with me?" he asked, raising his brow.
