Eirlys woke up grumpy and literally butthurt. That Ceallach had left her side surprised her, but she wasn’t worried — it was easy enough to track his scent, and she followed his trail at a dogged if not particularly graceful limp. When she caught Mallaidh’s scent along with it, she quickened her pace, spurring her weary legs into a hitching canter. She held up her hind leg as she did so, crashing through the underbrush just as Furi answered some statement of Ceallach’s: “Uh, someone I know was looking for her but I haven’t seen her.”

Hobbling closer to her siblings, Eirlys beamed. “You found each other,” she breathed joyously. “I never got to tell Ceallach that I found you, Mallaidh.” Her grin was rueful, and more than a little grim. She nosed lovingly at her sister’s cheek and then paid the same homage to their brother. “I accidentally trespassed on another pack’s territory and there was kind of a situation with Chusi and some boyfriend of hers.”
