Iara had been traveling the coastline for days, and she could not seem to drag herself away from it. She had grown up in a forest, so she was used to trees. This openness unnerved her, but she loved it. Her spring-green eyes gazed out at the blue-grey ocean, ignoring the tide pools around her and the seabirds that were picking at their helpless prey inside. She only had eyes for the sea. It was cloudy today, and windy, and cold. Iara did not mind the cold. In fact, it was heat she couldn’t stand. Some part of her brain attempted to urge her to jump into the icy water, but she refrained. Instead, she continued standing stock-still, only her head moving, sweeping back and forth over the waterscape.
