it was not often than the avian concerned itself with the likes of the ground-folk, least of all the cervidae; occasionally it would observe them in the evenings but at that time they would be less than conversational, and there was no point in trying to communicate with something which communicated in bleats and grunts. 

it was not yet high-dark; with its wings outstretched, it silently hovered on the summer updrafts, and it was during this aerial survey that the avian spied movement among the trees. it was uncertain, for the cervidae were on the move despite the darkness. curious of this, thirdeye angled himself towards one of the watchstations nearby and landed silently midway up a juniper tree.
