@Grezig here's that hunting thread I promised you a bazillion years ago (okay maybe like 3 days ago)
It had been nearly two weeks since Pema had given birth, and all four pups were doing fine. It had been the three week mark when his previous litter had perished, and Shale found himself holding his breath, waiting for the mark to pass. The circumstances had been different--the northern famine had left the land decimated, devoid of prey, nothing to eat.
That was not the case here. The Wilds were so green, flourishing as the halfway mark of summer approached. The herds were strong, and there was plenty of smaller game afoot as well. The one problem Shale, and the rest of Morningside, now faced was that for all the prey, for all the plants, and for all the wonderful, beautiful, perfect pups. . .there were not enough adult wolves to provide.
Today, he wandered through the grove, in search of another deer to take home. The partial kill he'd brought back from his hunt with Brynn had definitely helped, but it was already gone, and he had five hungry mouths for which he was personally responsible, plus the rest of the pack. And himself, too. He supposed he needed to eat, as well.
His nose caught on to a promising trail, and he followed it like a bloodhound, muzzle down, tail low, creeping through the brush. He only hoped that someone as talented as Brynn would cross his path, to help him take down whatever pot o' gold was at the end of the rainbow.
