Wheeling Gull Isle white noise

Although Sockeye felt he now had received a sort of tacit welcome, he still did not wander too far from the shoreline. This was, in part, because he preferred to keep the ocean in his sights. It was too quiet when he left the waves behind, and the quiet reminded him that he was still without his brother. More than that, though, he was not sure about meeting the rest of the island wolves. Part of him wondered if they were all odd-shaped and silent like the swwet, dark mother he'd met first.

When he caught sight of the pale, doe-like girl near the treeline, he started to think that this assessment had been correct. Still, the dark woman had been kind enough, and he hoped this interaction would go just as well.

With a still-wriggling fish clutched tightly between his jaws, he headed straight toward the woman with his head down and tail wagging. A low, muffled woof of greeting escaped him, but any conversation other than that was on hold while his mouth was full.
