Where she'd detected both Constantine and Aria's presence along Swiftcurrent's outskirts in the form of fresh scent markers, Durnehviir noted that Viinturuth continued to evade her. She wished to give him some space to think things through, hence why she'd did her best to ignore the itch to pursue his trail. More than anything, the russet Frostfur wished to support her children - but how could she, was she herself was so close to faltering?
Her firstborn's temper had flared when last she saw him, but he'd been collected enough from snapping at her in the same manner she had toward her mate. Viinturuth was stronger than her: he walked away, allowing himself the time to reign in his anger before words could do everlasting damage. Her heart yearned for his peace of mind and she couldn't help but worry that his mistrust of her might sever their bond.
Torn, she wanted to bring Viinturuth's distance to the attention of Constantine. She wanted to clack her fangs at his snout, punish him for allowing his need for Aria's companionship to fracture their family, though she instead chose to let him come to her. In large part, Durnehviir hadn't expected her co-Alpha and his wayward dove to return and amidst her concern for her teenage pups, she seethed in silence that the swarthy Mayfair had opted to maintain his distance.
The crimson wolfess prowled in the night, unable to find peace in her slumber. She trailed along the creek's edge, a fiery lobe cupped in its direction to listen fondly to the thrum of rushing water. Durnehviir found some solace in the territory's namesake and, pausing, she looked out over the shimmering surface with solemn champagne eyes to exhale a heavy breath.
Much to her surprise, the summons that rose from the border drew her attention away. She pressed on into the night, tail thrust over her hindquarters as she weaved through the foliage and presented herself to the rogue male with her crown thrust high. Greeting him with a low rumble, the dragoness' gaze roved curiously over his sterling figure before settling firmly on his masculine features. She uttered no words, merely pricked an ear in silent question: why have you come?
