Broken Antler Fen Knee Deep in the River Trying to Get Clean

Doon had come a very long way in a relatively short amount of time, he wasn't sure he could do that again but situation he'd been running from proved to be potent fuel. The sandy male wasn't sure that he'd ever be able to get himself someplace that felt "far enough away" but he was certainly farther than he'd ever been from home and that was a start. The majority of the time the landscape had been somewhat recognizable to where he'd been raised, desert for the most part broken every so often by forests of coniferous and, less often, decidious trees. The last several days though the landscape had gotten considerably wetter, in Doon's estimation anyway. The forests came much more frequently, the mountains more rocky and the terrain much softer than the harsh deserts he'd known for years. It came as a welcome change of course, Doon chuclked to himself as he walked through the marsh, if he'd known sooner that there were places that were as nice and watery as this he'd have left home awhile ago.

Doon slowed as memories of home, why he left and the circumnstances around his leaving flooded his mind and heart again for what felt like the thousandth time. The memory of what happened between him and his mother, and his worry for Loess, tore a sound from his chest somewhere between a deep growl, a whimper and a howl. Doon had come so far, physically, emotionally and mentally, and he still felt nearly the same as when he left, he wasn't sure if he'd ever feel any better but hoped that he'd figure out his emotions sometimes and that he'd find his sister. Time seemed to get away from him whenever he got like this and the sun had sunk low towards the earth before Doon knew it, a perfect time to start finding a place to spend the night. Doon began a sad, slow trot around the marshy area in hopes to find someplace dry to drown his sorrows in sleep. The ony reprieve he seemed able to get lately.
