The world whizzed by him, but all he could hear was the noise from his own steps.  Eventually, he slowed, stopped, and held his breath to try to hear whether he should keep going. All he could hear was his heartbeat in his ears.  A cat couldn't move completely silently could it? Not with all the snow and plants, right?  Akatosh tried to catch his breath, looking back the way he came.

It seemed he wasn't in danger.  But man, he was gonna have a he'll of a time figuring out the way home.  He could do it.  Probably.  He hadn't gone too far, as far as he knew.
