a quiet whisper that drove mona antha mayfair from her den, one not by any creature; the spur of restlesness within her. it was not an hour after dawn that the little cardinal departed the borders, a wavering call to @Terance and @Treason that she would return. mona gave no reason, for there was none to give, none she could understand, and she set off through the gently falling snow in the direction of the coastline.
when she woke on the second day of her travels, mona found that her body had begun to burn with an inexplicable and worrisome ardor; she craved suddenly the things she had done with nathaniel, what she had — and then the shame of it! who was this creature who had split her skin and roved toward the sea with a singular interest?
mona hid from those who would spy her, some budding instinct telling the girl that men could not be trusted, not now. she was pursued once, only the long thorns of a rosebush kept her from his want, and after hours he let her alone. she made haste to escape him.
dawn of the third day found her within a beautiful expanse of plainland, where game circled, their scents calling to her. but mona, though her body hungered, found it was still was not prey she wished, nor was blood her focus. unable to stop the keening within her veins, the firebrand paused, letting out her voice in an inviting trill that left her breathless, searching.
