Fog laid across the valley, morning air crisp with the scent of freshly deposited snow. Winter was bitter, and Annaliese was expecting it for seemingly the first time. Being born in the winter had left her little memories of the cold, huddling close to her mother and siblings. Now, she was on her own, in a world unknown. Daredevil, survivalist; her family likely thought her foolish.
Hunter’s Slope offered her little, however, except a cushioned life she did not want. Her potentials were elsewhere. Regrets and doubts were thrown aside; the hunger in her stomach ignored.
Ears perked forward, the rose strode forth in the snow covered valley. Her head high, fighting against the wind as her fur swept from one direction to another.
