the first thing he noticed was her eyes, each one a different color. he'd seen the phenomenon before, but never so striking—perhaps the moonlight made it so. he found himself staring and had to shake himself out of his reverie a moment later, blinking, smiling in an awkward, almost boyish fashion.
his ears cupped atop his head, perked high and curious.
mostly, he was just intrigued by her eyes. one like the green earth, one like stars.
hey, cortez echoed her greeting, dipping his head. she was young and lean; the world hadn't yet worked its dark magic on her body, nor, it seemed, her soul. there was still the kind of light in her gaze that suggested something pure, untainted by horror. he clung to it, for what else were you supposed to cling to, really?
his ears cupped atop his head, perked high and curious.
it's pretty here, isn't it?he asked rhetorically (he couldn't think of a single madman who'd answer no) but there had to be some way to move the conversation along without quasi-ogling the girl.
mostly, he was just intrigued by her eyes. one like the green earth, one like stars.
