Dated April 2nd.
Once again Chai had strayed from Shadewood Keep. She hadn't quite settled in completely and for this reason, she had a case of itchy feet. Partly to be expected, since she had been going it alone for so long after being separated from her siblings. She was happy to have a pack supporting her. A safe place to rest her head at night. Food available on a regular basis.
And yet... She was almost disappointed. She saw only fleeting glimpses of Atticus and the others of the pack had yet to cross paths with her. She had not met any of them. Was she being too impatient? Expecting too much? Maybe. It was the peak of spring after all. The mothers to be would have their pups soon and the fathers would have their hands full. She couldn't blame them for being preoccupied.
Springtime was indeed, Chai's favorite time of year for many reasons. The influx of new life, not limited to just wolves. The bright, sunny days. The fresh air that was neither too warm nor too cold. The abundance of easy prey, and of course, the explosion of plant life. Away from home, in a sea of colorful wild flowers that must have popped up overnight, under a crystal blue sky, her lone figure drifted. She was no herbalist but she thought trying her luck at identifying some of the plants and bringing them back to the Keep would earn her some points. She had no luck. With a resigned sigh she flopped on her back amidst the grass and many wild flowers. Some were crushed beneath her weight but they went unnoticed. With little more productive to do, she might as well kick back and enjoy herself.
