When her sister randomly appeared, Osprey didn't think twice. She rearranged the remains of the chewed squirrel leg in her mouth and leaned forward, offering it to Tytonidae. The dust-colored pup chose that very moment to unleash a loud bark, causing the meat to drop to the ground in between them. Osprey rolled her eyes, then smiled.
Before she could so much as greet her sibling, another wolf approached. She saw him out of the corner of her eye and her heart jumped into her throat. "Rag—!" she began to say, turning toward the white wolf. She almost immediately realized her stupid mistake. She bit down on her tongue and swallowed her guardian's name, feeling a slight burning in her cheeks.
"Erm," she said, trying to recover, "hi." She glanced sideways at Ty, hoping her sister would somehow cut through the awkward tension she'd just created.
