Zan was more than capable of playing Venamis at his own game; he'd seen that unmistakable sly glint in her eye on more than one occasion. The spiderling did not reveal his disappointment or frustration at her having seen right through his feigned innocent interest, choosing instead to wait patiently.
A dark ear twitched and, as he stepped back to allow a little more space between them and potentially lure her into a false sense of security, Ven watched his sister quietly for a time as she continued to eye him suspiciously. At last he broke the stare, lifting his cool gaze to look above the other youngster's crown with false enthusiasm at absolutely nothing among the branches with the hope that curiosity might get the better of her.
But Zan did not fall into her brother's web of deceit, and he huffed his frustrated disappointment as he turned away to observe and wait from a distance.
