Waking from a nap, the girl rose clumsily to her paws and stretched.  She yawned, long and loud, the gesture ending in a rumbly little growl as she peered, blinking, at the brightly-lit opening of the den.  It beckoned to her, an alluring siren whose song she couldn't ignore.  There was trouble to get into out there!  Things to explore, places to see!  Stumbling over one of her sleeping siblings, she wandered toward the entrance and was stopped in her tracks by a soft huff from her mother.

Growling in frustration, she looked back at Mom and gave the she-wolf her very best sad puppy face, whining pathetically and stamping her little front feet.  She wanted to go outside so bad!  Raven grinned and shook her head, clearly relenting to this argument they'd had so many times before.  It was time.  Being careful not to wake the others, the alpha female extricated herself from the pile of snoozing bodies and moved to join Bateleur, gesturing for her to follow.  The girl eagerly obeyed, bouncing on her mother's heels out into the blissfully warm sunshine.  As she blinked to let her young eyes adjust, Mom settled down in the grass just outside the den's door so she could still keep an eye on the pups inside.  "Go on ahead, Bat, have fun.  But stay close!"  The little girl hadn't even heard her though -- she was already enraptured by a big, fat bug crawling up the stalk of a nearby flower.
