The limit of his travels would have to be the riverside. He knew if he went further he'd end up back at the densely-populated Shadewood and that would be useless to him. If Asa was going to complete his self-imposed mission he needed to keep heading east at the very least, however he had been lulled in to a state of complacency of late; living in the hinterlands wasn't difficult at all, so maybe it would be a suitable place to hunker down - at least until winter came to a close. He thought he'd have better luck in the spring anyway. So, he kept moseying until he came upon that river.
Except this time he discovered he was not alone. There was shimmering grey between the trees, something moving quickly away, and he paused to watch it until it vanished. He hoped it was something larger than the squirrels and birds he'd been trying to track down; maybe a deer, or something even bigger. Curious to see what had spooked it (and not thinking it might've been himself) Asa moved in to investigate -- and that's when he saw the pale woman.
He took a deep breath as he looked her over, taking in her scents. She appeared healthy enough. Not alone either - there were layers to her scent, and that intrigued Asa. A smile drifted across his face as his gaze matched with her's, but he nodded his head and looked away, not wanting to impose or intimidate.
