Though this guy didn't seem nearly impressed enough by her choice of multisyllabic words to describe him: that was a point against him. Still, Brou was entertained and appreciative enough of him otherwise thus far to encourage him to hang around. Careful, she warned him teasingly. Not too close, though. Better not get any o' your stink on me. She glanced back at him, grinning, and gave a little wink.

Her brisk forward motion didn't cease; maybe even increased a bit, because Brou liked watching him scramble a bit. We're going to find some water to dump your whole body into and get you clean, duh, she said in reply to his inquiry. We'd better make sure we get your ears extra-clean, 'cause apparently they're not working very well. She turned abruptly left, where the ground started sloping downward a little more as the dip in the expanse of rolling grasses indicated. By the way, Prodigious-Ears, what's your name? she asked absently as she swiftly picked her way down. He seemed like he was interesting or at least entertaining enough to make note of, so she probably oughta have a label for him. And maybe if she didn't like his given name, she'd just stick with whatever nickname...s... struck her fancy, instead.
