With equal parts caution, curiosity, and surprise, she watched the way his expressions shaped. Up close, she had hardly considered them before. Sounded like they had been the types to make trouble, not extend an offer for cover in a rainshower, even perhaps at the cost of their own comfort (although again, hard to tell--what was comfortable to a cat? their long, feline bodies so different..).

It was difficult for her to let go of her concerns, so drilled into her over all of the years that said keep watch for them, and then, keep them away.
