Deer grazed on the plateau, a small herd nosing through the snow to gain access to the sweet grass below. It grew in small patches and was thin, nearly pale in color as the snow suffocated its growth. The deer didn't care of how little they gained, too engrossed by the chances of coming across the scarce greenery. They did not care Higoro was only yards away, perhaps they knew one wolf couldn't accomplish much or maybe the grass mattered more. The male watched as fawns played with each other, with their mothers calling to them once they veered too close to the wolf. Experienced mothers took no chances. Higoro made no advances towards the vulnerable fawns, though the meal would be easy and fattening the male chose to move on.
Higoro moved to more interesting scenery, the plateaus edge. He came to a stop as he neared, the steep cliffs magnitude sent butterflies rushing into his stomach, it neared nauseating. He fought through the urge to turn away, choosing resilience over 'cowardice'. He breathed in deep ushering the butterflies out with each exhale and settled his guts' apprehension. Higoro could finally enjoy the scene. The vastness of Teekon sweeping him off his feet, the beauty of the hot springs and its oasis of warmth was a sight to admire. Admire he did. Charcoal paws hung off the edge and swayed with the gusts of wind. Higoro laid his head down and sighed, he was content to lay there until the night shepherded him to the neighboring forest.
Movement caught in the sides of his eyes, he looked and watched the fawns and does move into the woods, disappearing behind some tree. A deep sigh slipped out of the males lips, heavy thoughts draining him of any joy roaming his heart. He wanted a little one of his own, he almost had it at one time. He desired love, to have someone to return home to was his deepest craving and also his most hidden; but who could love a boorish brute like him? He was mean to every soul he encountered and burned all the bridges to those he had a connection to, there was nothing left but fragments of a past life. Fragments that pierced his skin with every recollection, sunk deep into his heart and further scarred what was already shattered.
No honour among thieves
