Oblivious to the earthbound child, Aniuk was busy plucking at the length of brown fur wedged between her talons and the pine branch. She'd grabbed it just after the neck, causing her fist to pierce the lungs, and the rest of the body hung limp and dripping various fluids in to the snow.

The child came bounding over, their steps in time with the drip drip drip of the mustelid. Aniuk peeled a ribbon of fur off of the creature and dropped it quickly, then began to pull bits of meat free of the spine, swallow down a peck of liver, and so on.
