If Shadow had known his growing attachment to the female, he could assume he would either recieve worse than her, or be cast astray, the poor female left to fend for herself against the presumed unfairness of her bondage to the hessian who sat before him, eating a rabbit as if he had not a care in the world.

Instead, he brought up the topic of 'another slave'...who was the new recruit?

"She has a companion? Another has joined her chains?" the male asked?
