A white figure slipped from the trees like some sort of phantasm, spooking Junior. The low warning growl had the desired effect; it caused her to take three unsteady backward steps. Her ears pinned back and she grimaced, her tail stiffening but remaining low. She smelled injury on the pale wolf, though he was still older and larger than her. Junior knew she wouldn't take her chances.

Turning and leaving seemed the most logical course of action, yet Junior's pride flared in protest at the notion of flight. Instead, she stood her ground, nostrils flaring and whiskers quivering as she eyed the stranger. The juvenile didn't speak nor make any other sound, waiting to see if he would say something first.
