Despite Junior's neutral stance, the stranger grew more aggressive. She prickled indignantly, her lips wrinkling back from her teeth. Couldn't he see that she was no threat to him or his land? Junior let her tail go limp between her hind legs as she backpedaled several more steps, all the while keeping her eyes on him. She didn't look him straight in the eye — she saw no reason to challenge him — but watched for any sudden movements.

"What's your problem?" she eventually demanded. "I'm not doing anything to you." That wasn't true; she was close to his pack's territory and, furthermore, had been contemplating robbing them. This didn't stop Junior from feeling disgruntled. This was becoming her default mood. "No reason to be acting all butthurt."
