Shemesh spit the claw onto the beach and whimpered as it was quickly overrun; the last she saw of it, two crabs were fighting over the meat inside. ”Someone nice like me?” Shemesh laughed nervously. What was this lady talking about?

Her zig-zagging path led her to the wolf, and she stopped just short of bumping into her. ”Does this happen a lot?” Shemesh asked. If it did, she’d probably steer clear of the coast until she found her way home — no matter how tasty the crabs were. A full stomach wasn’t worth being covered in hungry crustaceans.
