All had been perfect - a heaven of their own, occupied by one other soul whose presence drifted in and out of their emergent consciousness. Serenity, security, and a sameness. They were no different here. There were no hardships, and they were perfect, whole, complete.

Then paradise was ripped away.

Mercy grants us the amnesia to forget our first moments later in life, and so it would be for Pisces as they found themselves suddenly, painfully thrust into ice. Their first sensation was overwhelming cold, followed by a heaviness as they became aware of their body. Pure instinct forced a wail from their throat as they suddenly knew scent, touch, and taste. So many new sensations jolted their fresh mind, but unknown to them, one was glaringly absent: sound. Though they vocalized, to them, it was simply the pressure of air forced from their chest. Silence pervaded their world, and it would be silence that would accompany them throughout their journey in this life.

Though their eyes were still closed to the world, their senses perceived the presence of two others, and they knew these two were their salvation. They clung desperately to the nearest, being little more than a bundle of the softest white fluff, knowing that Mother was the source of nourishment, love, nurturing. And then there was a muskier scent - Father, who would be protector, teacher, mentor. Safe. Though they were still reacting to the trauma of their entry into this life, slowly, they registered that all was well here.

And then there was a third presence, a familiar one. Oh, you're here too? Will we be here together? Instinctively moving toward their sibling, there was a nameless form that surged through their being, replacing fear with a new, distinguished emotion - love. Yes, the overwhelming need to continue that bond with their sibling took over, silencing their fervent cries and instead coaxing gentle whimpers from their diminutive form.

Their love swelled, encompassing the entire den. Perhaps being kicked out of Eden wasn't so bad after all.
